Crouch offer made

According to TEAMtalk, West Ham have slapped down a £6 million bid for Southampton's Peter Crouch. The gangly striker, who can change a light bulb without stretching and trim his toenails without bending (and can do both simultaneously if the need arises, which is a sobering sight), is also being chased by Liverpool and Manchester City.

He's good on the pitch, but that price tag is hefty. It would mean smashing our own incoming record transfer by 20%. However, we do need a target man and we do need someone who can hold the ball up in the Premiership (Z-man is yet unproven in this regard). Tentatively, sounds like a risky deal that could either pay off spectacularly, or embarass us!
