Shite!
Shite sums it up. I know how big an effort it has been so far to get promoted, strengthen the team wisely and get the early results we have..so I don't want to turn on them after one bad performance....but we were woeful today for the majority of the game.
And unfortunately being the late kick-off game every other manager probably watched a blueprint for how to bring us undone. Opposition midfields and forwards only need to concentrate on giving us no time on the ball in midfield and we fall apart at the seams. You don't need silky skills. You don't need sheer brilliance. You just need to be fast and in our face and instead of building up some momentum we turn it over or hoof it away in a panic.
I was also highly disappointed that after snatching a goal to draw level and then getting in behind their defence a couple of times without luck in the next 5 mins, we didn't push on. Sunderland we're shell shocked and doubting themselves and panicking. So what did we do? We decided to run it to the corner flag and play for the point. Sure we stole a point we didn't deserve. But we could have and should have tried to steal all three.
And one final thing. While we're talking about shite. Peter Drury and Andy Townsend were inept and painful to listen to throughout the commentary...

Think you're being a bit harsh! It was away from home against a team with their tails up after a great away win last week looking to get their first win at home. They were always gonna work hard and try and win this one and once they got their goal they showed real belief and put us under a lot of pressure.
Once we scored though they backed off a little and we started to play a bit. I don't think we mugged them as much as people will have you believe. If you check out the stats we had 52% of the posession.
We have another hard away game coming up with Man City away. Another point there and I'll be happy.

I agree with Norven actually. He pretty much summed up exactly what I thought after the match. When they had possession Sunderland soaked up our pressure very very well, with simple movements and passing of the ball. We didn't. However I think a lot of it today was just the team being a bit off colour. So many passes, including simple ones, went astray that I can only put it down to a poor performance.
For example, Repka had a shocker apart from his long ball that found Teddy. He slipped over twice, allowing Sunderland in, and his passing was poor. Mullins couldn't find anyone with his passing and I saw many of the others give it away too easily.
Not death knell time but we need to sharpen up a little bit when under pressure. And we did have the opportunity to nick a win, but didn't push on when Sunderland were reeling from Yossi's goal.
Dave, I can't agree with you that Sunderland weren't mugged - I reckon they deserved the win and were unlucky to have a goal disallowed and for that shot to bounce off their attacker - it could have been 3-1 (or even 3-2 if had Teddy scored). The scoreline flatters us much more than them, IMHO.

Yeah Dave listen to Graham, he knows his stuff...the fact that he agreed with me 100% is just a conincidence. He rocks! (something else we have in common.)
