A draw on my birthday - well it beats 4 years ago when we went out to Brazil on 21st June. However the performance was just as lame and TBH I'm not sure when they are going to start performing. With Owen now injured my comments with regards to striking options are starting to look like a reality. There should be a goal poacher such as Defoe at his disposal to take owen's place but there ain't - nice one Svennis!

Happy birthday to you... etc... Hope you have a corker. At least England topped their group and avoided Germany in the next round.
Besides, Defoe was sold to Spunts on my birthday.. ruined my whole day it did.

Happy birthday Dave.
Spot on about the goal poacher Dave, need someone ruthless in front of goal. Unfortunately Rooney's still not sharp enough, Crouch will NEVER be sharp enough and as for the mascot... well who knows, no-ones seen him kick a ball! Bit of a kick in the teeth for the other English strikers in the premier that they decided to take 2 injured players, a very average TALL bloke and a kid!
Beckham doesn't contribute enough IMO and is lucky to be playing. Had he not be 'Beckham' he'd been dropped by now. Lennon on the right hand side would scare the life out of the opposition I reckon.
Hargreaves and Lumpard looked better than Gerrard/Lumpard. The holding mid fielder seemed to give us more space. Although I think Gerrard would be better than Lumpard. Maybe Carrick/Gerrard?

i dont think you put much effort into those ratings, Hargreaves played great, and also ashly cole had a good game.

anon(1), you're right, I didn't put a great deal of thought into those ratings (mostly because I've been absolutely knackered from all the late nights) but I did watch it. I definitely think Ashley Cole had a poor game, he was supposed to be on the post for their second goal but he was a couple of yards inside and didn't even react. I don't remember him putting in any useful crosses or passes. I think he made one tackle that I can remember. If you saw any more than I did (which is likely, because I was half asleep) then what did you see?

actually I do think Hargreaves had a fair game, but not great, his passing was sometimes a bit off. I think mostly his inclusion had a tactical advantage as it allowed Lampard more freedom, which Tubby obviously enjoyed.
