Well here we are! This could possibly be our cup final - our destiny is now in our own hands. Fantastic supportin' on Saturday vs Wigan and I expect you'll all be itching to get out this weekend too.

no pressure = turn it on party time for them a'la after Best died and they spanked us with scintilating football.
With their depth and competition for places if they rest a few it wouldn't help us much imho.

I actually think what will happen if they have wrapped up the title it will help us but they will not rest players because the likes of Warnock & Jewell would grill them. We need them to qualify for the CL final and then they will tell their players to be cautious and not risk injury.

Yeah if they make the CL final, that and the FA Cup, they'll rest players, be mugs not too. Particularly when they watch the tape of Noble crunching in, blimey!

Sat was awesome... I don't give a fuck what Warnock Moans about... tough shit.... lets hope the mancs have won it... they will defo rest players because they play this weds in CL, Manc Derby on Sat and then Chelsea next Wed... thus they won't play those they want to rest for the cup Final.... We just need to beat Bolton and not worry about that game... if we need something from it.. then hopefully we can get it with the Mancs resting players... but if we win on Sat then hopefully that could be enough... Come on your IRONS!!!!

Russell Brand - Dave Whelan can eff right off, West Ham's only crime is being a shambolic club.
Dave Whelan, the chairman of Wigan Athletic, in my view, can eff right off. I'm proper brassed off (at first I was just cheesed off, then browned off till eventually I reached the summit - brassed off) with all of West Ham's fellow relegation strugglers clamouring for a points deduction after last week's tribunal decreed that a £5.5m fine would be penalty enough. Six clubs in total, naturally the ones vying with the Irons for a place in the Championship, all met up, like castrato assassins, thumbing their impotent nubs, plotting litigation against a club that have endured a season of unremitting punishment. Eff off.

Hang on a minute, I thought when a precedent had been set, then the law and future rulings are based on that.
If you look in the Sports Gazette at the local league tables you will see asterisks next to some teams and at the bottom it states points deducted for fielding an ineligible player, the same on a Sunday when the national newspapers show regional league tables.
So that's sorted then, rules are rules. We often read the saddening story of a club secretary who has accidentally got a signing on form in too late or did not know of a player having played earlier in the season for another club in a competition.
Did Bury not get kicked out of the FA Cup this season for fielding a Poolie loanee who was not eligible for the cup tie?
A few seasons ago I refereed a replayed League Cup tie between West Ham (ironically) and Aston Villa, because West Ham had played an ineligible player in the first game.
I am sure I could fill this page with other examples, but finally did Boro not have three points deducted and as a result get relegated back in 1997?
So really it was a no brainer for the no brainers who sat on the commission to deal with West Ham.
This situation was even worse, because they had knowingly carried out the transfers of the Argentinian duo, against league rules, and played them both in several league games. Points deduction guaranteed you would have thought.
But no, the biscuit man was threatening to take legal action.
Was Steve Gibson advised not to do so in 97, and there was the threat of the Premier League having a court case ongoing after the end of the season?
So, lo and behold, a £5.5m fine. Now West Ham might still go down, but what if they don't, what will a Charlton, Sheffield United, Fulham, Wigan or even Boro have to say then?
Well I will say it now. It stinks. You will have noted from previous week's columns my feelings that the game at the highest level is riddled with unfairness and this does take the "biscuit".
PS. I hope the mighty Boro can do you a big favour by beating Wigan and Fulham, but I wouldn't count on it as the Boro are like the Hammers this season, beating the top teams and poor against the bottom teams.

If Arsenal win, they leapfrog Liverpool in third which means less CL qualifying rounds and also means the Mancs can rest players against us.
