Big coup - Ljungberg signs!
I think it's beyond all doubt now how serious Eggy and Curbs are about taking the club forward.
West Ham swoop to sign Ljungberg

West Ham have completed the signing of Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg, BBC Sport understands.
The Hammers will unveil the 30-year-old Sweden international at a press conference at 1400 BST.
Ljungberg, who was also a target for Fiorentina, joined the Gunners in a £3m deal from Halmstads in 1998 and scored 72 goals in 325 games for the club.
He had two years left on his contract at the Emirates Stadium but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger decided to sell him.
Ljungberg, who was Arsenal's longest serving player, struggled with injury last season and played just 26 games.

He's not bad business at £3m but I do get a bit concerned we have a few potential injury crocks.
Ljungberg has had persistent hip and ankle injuries. At one stage they thought he had cancer but it turned out to be blood poisoning from his tattoos!
Parker has had his fair share, metatarsel at Chelsea, missed a few months at n'castle with glandular fever.
Upson, Neill, Faubert all suffered significant injuries after signing.
Ashton coming back from such a serious injury is at an elevated risk of reoccurrence.
Our squad is not what you would call chock-a-block full of depth so any injuries to key quality players are gonna be felt big time.
Hope I'm way off beam...

by the way the fee isn't made public yet, the 3m was for his move to Arsenal. I think it might have even been on a free.
He's signed a four year deal.

Freddie Ljungberg admits that the ambition of Eggert Magnusson convinced him to join West Ham United after nine successful years at Arsenal.
The Swedish international captain completed his move from north to east London this afternoon and says that his new Chairman made a big impression during the negotiation stages.
"I am very happy and really looking forward to the challenge," he says. "West Ham United is a great club and the Chairman really wants to go for it.
"I spoke to him at length - he is very easy to talk to, and you can see that he has that fire in his eyes. He wants to take the Club to another level, and hopefully I can help him to do that.
"There are a lot of reasons for making this move and it is hard for me to talk about all of them, but the main thing is that I was convinced by the ambition at West Ham United.
"The Chairman wants me to help build success here in the future, and I am very excited by that challenge. The aim is to get the Club to the top of English football
"I haven't had a chance to train with my new team-mates yet, but I am looking forward to that. There are some fantastic players here and the squad is very strong.
"The Chairman has proved that he isn't scared to move in the transfer market, but West Ham also have a lot of good young players - the Youth Academy here is very famous - and I really can't wait to be a part of things here."

Firstly, cracking signing. Hard working, good passer, no nancy boy and he can score. And we sign another captain.
Have read a few comments that he's past it which is complete bollocks, he's 30 FFS! Also read that he'll be cover for Faubert. I should think Freddie will have something to say about that. Some good competition for places in the midfield at the moment.
I really like Freddie as a player, a good intelligent footballer who knows how to win. Again superb signing for us.
However, I share some of the thoughts on his and others injuries. The other fear I have is the Davor Suker factor.
But fuck this, I'm not gonna be pessimistic today, it's all good IMO.

Great Signing AC and EGGERT, I was a little down following the injury to Faubert, but this is excellent news!
Look forward to the start of the Season. Does Anyone know is Lucas will play any Friendlies after OZ were knocked out of the Asia Cup?
Also Zamora, I haven't seen his name on the lists in the Friendlies?

Very pleased with this signing but also share the injury concerns that our squad has. Freddie, if fit, will be a terrier in the park. We're turning into a real team of hard nuts.

Like the transfer breakdown Munky. The papers were having a go at us recently for spending ridiculous amounts of money. Yeah right. Looks like good business to me. And as for the wages we are supposed to be paying, Eggy made a statement some time ago saying we had a wage structure with a max. salary of 55k per week so, as usual the papers just seem to make things up.
