Ethers out!

A massive blow for the Hammers as the announcement has been made that Matty Etherington has injured his knee in a training-ground collision with Marlon Harewood. It looks like he'll be out of action for a month - three competitive games at a minimum.

This is a huge loss for the Irons at the start of a new season and it leaves Pardew with some difficult decisions to make. He could shift Konchesky up, but I think it would be better to play Yossi there, with Deano and Zamora up front and Marlon wide right. Alternatively, I really think Zamora is a shot at left wing as I think that kind of position suits him well, so we could have Deano and Marlon up front and Yossi on the right.

Whatever side he chooses, we'll all be grateful that our strength in depth is immeasurably greater than it was last season.
