Norwich vs West Ham - Live on Setanta Wed 1st August
The Norwich friendly this week is live on setanta sports.
4:30am is a little early for the pig n whistle but the game is replayed at 15:45pm so make your excuses to get off work early (I'm "going to the doctor") and join me for a beer at the pig n whistle. I'm going to stay away from the score and watch it as live - Look forward to seeing anybody who wishes to join me :-)

Anonymous - no offense but what the fuck is this thread about if it is not confirmation?
David Lewis sent me a text on Saturday advising me that it would be on.
Other Anon - I assume they will be showing it in the usual Hakaoh club in Sydney but give them a call to confirm.

Dave - with respect, this is not confirmation. If the Setanta site says nothing at all (and neither does David Lewis's site) then hiow can it be confirmed?
If anyone else came on this site and wstated that West Ham are going to sign so and so, you would ask them to quote their source or seek some sort of confimation. When it comes to getting up at 4 in the morning to watch a game of football, I want to be sure that the game is going to be shown...

Anon - before I continue this conversation with you could you please let me know who you are and where you're based in Oz?
I do not know what other cities are doing but in Brisbane we are not getting up at 4am to watch it as I said I am going to watch the 15:45 replay and anybody in Brisbane is welcome to join me. :-)

Dave,
My name is John O and I'm based in Sydney. I've tried signing up before but I've had dramas using my work PC (hence the anon post)

John O - no worries mate - you signed off as John O on the first anon & not the second so I didn't realise you were the same person.
Hope the Sydney information is useful - I phoned DPL today to find out for you and he said the Hakoah will be showing it for sure. David Lewis doesn't always have time to update his site which is why there is nothing on there. But just so you know I wouldn't post that a game was on Setanta if it wasn't mate :-) As for Setanta's site - I don't think they've updated their schedule - the rights were only acquired at the weekend as far as I'm aware.
I wasn't trying to be a smart arse when I commented about the confirmation but I was a little confused why you didn't beleive me and how I had not already given the information that it was definately on or reason to doubt.
As for signing up you don't really need to - if you select other rather than anonymous you can put your name so we know who is posting. :-) Best to do so cos it get's confusing which anon is which or if 2 anons are the same person if you follow what I mean lol.

Sorry John just to add the Hakoah will be open for the 15:45 replay not the 4:30 live coverage. I'd hate for you to go down there first thing and be dissappointed :-)

Phew, glad that's all sorted. Was looking grim for a while, thought an Anon V Dave death match was immanent :)
Anyway, can't make it unfortunately, busier than a Japanese beaver at work otherwise I'd be there.
Hadn't seen the article Stu, but his name has been bantered around for sometime now. Would be nice if it happens.

Stu - I have seen the link but I think we'll wait and see if anything more concrete comes of it. I think paying 9M for a player with a knee injury might be a bit silly though. They might see how serious that is first.

He's got previous with knee knack too. If it is true it shows we mean business.
Just hope that contracts too entice players of this caliber aren't too out of proportion and that they have some kind of contingency in them.

Thanks Dave,
Will be at the Hakoah with bells on!!
Didn't mean any offence with not trusting the information. Sometimes you see some crap written on some of the other WHU fan sites. I'll learn to be more trusting :)

So it was just myself, Risky Chris & Mark last night. Good to see you lads.
Quick summary of the game. Very fluid performance and quite reassuring for the new season. The first half was a powerhouse performance with lots of slick passing and quick movement.
A fantastic through ball from LBM released spector on the left to unleash a powerful neat finish at the far post to make it one nil. After several close chances West Ham made it 2 after LMBs deflected shot found it's way to Ashton who made no mistake with the finish from just outside the 6 yeard box.
The second half saw a couple of changes with Collins & Neill leaving the field to be replaced by Davenport & McCartney. The defensive reshuffle showed a few frailties as they failed to match the confidence shown by the reassured back line of the first half. On 55 minutes Norwich found a way through with a well worked cross and headed goal. A very good preseason friendly. BTW - Bellamy came on late - his touch looked a little rusty but boy is the lad quick. No sign of Ljungberg unfortunately.
Team
Green, Neill (McCartney 45), Spector, Collins (Davenport 45), Upson, LBM (Etherington 65), Noble, Mullins, Bowyer, Ashton (Cole 70), Zamora (Bellamy 65).
Think that covers all the subs - can't remmeber.
