Hammers Draw in Greece (er... at Upton Park)

* Marlon Harewood scored a brilliant solo goal but Paul Konchesky was forced off with an injury in a 1-1 draw with Olympiakos overnight.

The season hasn't yet begun but already we're suffering injuries. Thankfully there is cover for most positions but the potential loss of both Etherington and Konchesky is almost too much to bear.

Thankfully two-footed Yossi Benayoun can play on the left and I think Dave's right that we'll be seeing Bowyer on the right wing for the first couple of games. Harewood and Ashton's partnership is just too good to resist for Pardew I'm sure!

* West Ham have lost their second goalkeeper of the off-season, with Steve Bywater heading to Derby on loan with an agreement to a permanent move in a couple of weeks. The fee has been undisclosed. I feel a bit sorry for Steve - after his £300,000 move in 1998, spending so very long in the reserves and on loan he proved himself (I felt) in the Championship but has since repeatedly lost his place. He has a great potential. Good luck Steve.

* Here's a good article.
