Derby Accept £7m For Giles Barnes?
No official word yet but it would appear that Derby have accepted our bid of£7m for midfielder Giles Barnes. He is young (19) and pacey and from what I saw of him last season he is quality and a good pick up. I have heard somewhere he was currently injured.
We do seem to be amassing a stack of midfielders...Parker, Noble, Dyer, Ljungberg, LBM, Matty, Bowyer, Mullins, Quashie and now Barnes.
What we need is fullbacks or at least cover. Neill & Spector on the right but only McCartney on the left. We need a left back sharpish, and there are also plenty who think Spector isn't up to it.

Yeah, I saw the Barnes stuff too. Would be good. BIG rumours of Appiah again too as he's in London with the Ghana team. He'd be awesome. Leaning towards Anelka over EG in the beex camp for a striker. Snap up Shorey as left back and we're done ;-)

Shorey could come down to the last minute...Reading may well have agreed but it will only go ahead once they have a replacement in the bag. (a'la Blackburn releasing Neill).
EG is injured, but the rumored fee if true is juicy (6.7m) but the rumored wage demand is outrageous (100k/pw) but then the papers have been just writing whatever the hell they want so who knows what is true.
Appiah stuff is prolly just cause he's in town as you say. He's a box to box midfielder by all accounts and Fernabache are not proving easy to deal with..a move to Shalke fell through cause F demanded Shalke's star striker in return.

Benayoun's patience runs low
Yossi Benayoun is already concerned about his lack of opportunities at Liverpool and "will think about moving to a medium-sized team" if the situation does not improve, according to his agent.

According to the sun we've gone after Gabriel Heinze. I know its a dodgy paper but what do you think.
He plays LB doesn't he? He would surely be the first team LB with McCartney as back up. That would just leave us needing to sign another striker

With a bit of money we're now being linked to all sorts of players. The source may not be that reputable but nonetheless if Eggy pulled this one off then I think he would be a great signing.
Come on Curbs use your "special friendship" with Sir Alex to engineer this one.
If I recall correctly Heinze even speaks Welsh, although probably not the cockney kind that Bellamy speaks.
As for a striker, the EG talk has been going on for a while. Be interesting to see what happens in the next 9 days.

NO NO NO We do not need more hold to ransom players. We must not pay silly money for EG or any player that does not want to play with claret and blue on the sleeve!!! Barnes seems a good idea as the West Ham link is apparent as is with the Reading player Storey, i think i've read he is a Hammers supporter so that would be good. West Ham Utd needs club players like times gone by. Eggy talks about the good old days, so lets try and get back to that. Anelka is not the kind of player we need in the dressing room who would MUG us of for stupid money per week and mood off the rest of the Team. We now have the chance to be a top 6 team and looking back in the past had we been constantly in the top six could we have kept players like:
Carrick
Cole (not to be confused with the shit one in the reserves)
Defoe
Rio Ferdinand
Fat Frank
Sinclair (he's a`shitter @ cardiff now but was good to go for us)
and dare i say Judas Ince
All top players that have wanted more chance of glory and have moved on.
Would this have happened if we were a top 6 club?

We are at a huge cross-roads! The old West Ham Cup Team optimisum that has been seen so many times is now an expectant game by game mentality. We as West Ham fans have never had it so good. So please please please West Ham Utd, do not step out into the Leeds world of trying to buy success lets build a great squad that wants to play for the pride of East London!

Heinze signed with Real Madrid overnight for 8.2m. Rafa is spewing apparently.
New 2 Oz, I wholeheartedly agree we shouldn't be held for ransom and to be fair I don't think Eggy has been..he is on record as saying we have a wage structure & the wages quoted in the papers are bs.
Not sure how many players capable of helping you get into europe are gonna do it for the pride of east london.
I'm sure PDC & Tevez weren't playing for the pride of east london but they both were extremely passionate and tried their tits off. I'm sure the fans & the unique atmosphere you get at the Boelyn played a big part for both of them.
If we can progress to be regular euro contenders I'm sure it will be a lot easier to keep the cream of the academy in the east end as well.

not just Gabbs & Collins...now Noble & Green have also signed new 4 year deals.
"Danny Gabbidon, James Collins, Robert Green and Mark Noble have all signed new four-year deals with the Club. The quartet have put pen-to-paper on new contracts that will keep them at the Club till 2011. All four players have played major parts in the past two seasons in helping the Hammers reach an FA Cup Final in 2006 and to avoid relegation with a superb winning run at the end of last season. Noble, who played 50 minutes for the Under-21s in their 1-1 draw with Romania last night said, "I am delighted to have sorted out a new deal. "After ending the season on such a high and being so involved with the team it is great for the Club to show their belief in me by offering me a new contract. "It is common knowledge just how much this Club means to me so it is was an easy decision to commit my future here."
