Upson in, Marlon out?
Matthew Upson has signed a four and a half year deal for the massive sum of £6 million + £1.5 appearance money. Can't say I'm particularly familiar with him but we really need a good defender, especially with Neill out. What becomes of Ferdinand, Gabbidon, Collins, and Mears now, ja think?
Also, rumours that Marlon Harewood (pictured) is moving to Spurs for £8 million. We'll find out in the next hour or two...

Don't know anything about Upson but we need decent defenders badly. Seems like a lot of cash for a championship player. Hope he's worth it?
Would hate to see Marlon go TBH. Although he hasn't had the best of seasons,(which can be said of all the players), I still think he has a lot to offer the club and he'll come good again I'm sure of it.
Has Mrlon done something different with his hair?

IMO the signing of Upson could save our season. Our defence is in dismay right now and we can't wait until the injuries subside - we may just pick up a couple of points that we might not have done otherwise had we not signed him whilst waiting for Gabbs, Ferdi and Neill to return.

i believe that upson will be a great signing as long as he can stay fit (unlike neill) if we can get the backline fit were in with a good shot. Agree mostly with your backline choices dave except am not convinced on konchesky has ability but then does something stupid and lets himself down but, but maybe the best we have. As for marlon cannot honestly say he is worthy of an 8 million price tag, if someone wants to pay it we should jump at it(dont think they will though,hard to believe with this side now how we could go down,oops said that a few years ago as well. Upson's one of the hottest properties outside the premiership, so he's rated very highly, caveat being he doesn't get injured because he is a little prone. I'll bet brum will leak more goals now upson is gone. Bruce was livid with the board who couldn't let the money go bye bye.
Lets hope curbs can play a back four game in game out for a few months. He hasn't played the same back four since he has been here.
I think Kepa is the goal man, and I like to see tevez team up with him. Kepa and BZ did look good together.
Marlon is staying put and could be used as a wide man instead of a out and out striker.
We just need that allusive win and the confidence will start to come back. Then WHU will be a force to be reckoned with.

Upsom is a quality... he was previously at Arsenal as a kid but wasn't getting a game and so he left.. about 5 years ago now.. we could have signed him for 1 mil.. the price he went for... but why do that when we can wait 5 years and pay 6... He's been in a few England squads recently and is a excellent addition to our squad... I think he will play with Anton at the back... but he will defo be our number 1 defender... Marlon can go for 4M if anyone will bid for him... he has alot of strength and speed but no brain and that is no good when you are struggling... Once everyone is fit... Ashton, Tevez, Neill.. we will have a very good side... lets hope it's not too late when they are... I honestly think that we have to aim for 38 points.. and so 4 points from next 2 games is vital... We are at the same points and same games as when we went down before, and although I think 42 will be good enough this year... we did have champions league form in the last ten games last time when Sir Trev took over.... Come on West Ham... give us something to cheer about...
