Yossi to sign new deal!
Various sources are quoted as saying Yossi Benayoun is on the verge of signing improved terms with West Ham for 5 years. Personally I think this is a good move as he is one of our best players and if Carlos was to leave then we would be serverely lacking in creativity without the likes of Yossi.
In other news we apparently after Fulham keeper Annti Niemi as competition for Green and suprise suprise another centre half in Boro's Chris Riggott.

To take the next level we need to buy some really good players, unfortunately i dont think curbs is the man to do that. The amount of money he spent during the Jan transfer window and on those type of players really shows me he is not the man to take the club into the elite.
I mean Chris Riggot? He cant even break into an ordinary middlesborough side on a consistent basis yet we are buying him? How is he that much better than what we have? They should be scouring the european leagues or getting really good quality players that are clearly better than what you have. I dont know, i could be wrong but lets see how it all pans out.

And Anon Its still just a rumour. And the amount we spent in January was almost necessary, admittedly 4/6 players flopped. Upson was an unlucky move due to injury and once Tevez and Zamora hit form Kepa didn't get a look in, same goes for Davenport once Collins hit form. Though Quashie was a shit move.
But Lucas Neill was awesome once he got back from injury and LBM was playing well at the end.
i do NOT rate Niemi look else where curbs and i agree with Dave in the other post, we do not need Viduka.

Yeah I can see the point, but I guess my point was we spent an enormousamoutn of money on them. Lucas is a decent move for sure because the right back situation was dire, but 3 million pounds for Devenport, 7.5 mill for Upson? I mean Nemanja Vidic cost less from memory and he is a far better player. Upson has also always been injury prone. Thats my concern, I know they are rumours but the players we are linked with is a worry. Agree on Viduka, in fact I rate him highly BUT we have the next generation Viduka in a fully-fit Ashton. He links up well, can pass and bring others into play and hold up the ball as well as finish. No need to have two of the exact player.
Agree with Dave though, we need a striker and a top class midfielder, I rate Parker highly but he is another player regularly on the sideline with injury.
Anyway hope the club can really take the next step forward. It will be an interesting off-season.

Anon - totally agrre with the likes of Riggott et al but lets not judge Curbs until he's at least signed the player. These are rumours mate - we'll be linked with alot more before anybody actually signs.
Also I wouldn't judge him on January. I thought Upson was a bit of a coup and we were unlucky with his injury. 7.5M was over priced but it is what you have to pay to get players in January when your team is in the poo.
The only signing I have been totally against so far is Quashie - what a total bag of shite!
Davenport - jury is still out for me - I saw a couple of good games from him up until the nightmare he had at Charlton.

I have to wait til my birthday in order to get the kit the shirt i like better :(

Guys... lets not get involved in over optimism as seems to happen at the irons most summers... We have stayed up by the skin of our teeth and our number one priority is to make sure that we are safe... Yes we have a new Chairman and yes we have 40M to spend... but lets remember where we are... Liverpool spend this much every year and only just making it top 4 every year... Villa had shit loads to spend and O'Neil as manager and where really out the bottom half. Lets remember who we support and what success looks like.. To me staying up and if we can get players to support the ones we have then that is great... we need to have some cover for the 1st team otherwise there is too much pressure on them. Come on lets get behind the lads and be honest with ourselves... If we can stay in the league safely this season than that is a massive improvement on last season..

The person curbs should look at buying is John Stead, he's a quality player and we could buy him for a fair little fee.
As for the contract with Benayoun, that's good, he's a skillful player but just needs to buffen up a bit.

Just got off the KUMB site. Below are some highlights from the fans forum last night.
Tevez in on a 3 yr deal and we will try and keep him. But if another club comes for him and he wants to go, we can't stop him from leaving.
We'll be in a new stadium within 3 yrs!
Teddy, Newton and Mears have already gone.
Yossi looks like staying.
NRC looks like going, although we've not been approached by anyone, at the moment, for him.
Looking at bringing in 2 to 3 'world class' players. Probably from the PL but maybe from Europe?
Lucas is considered the main man at the club.
West Ham to tour OZ in the off season next year. Lovely!

Onto this post. Keeping Yossi is critical IMO. When he is on, he's what we're all about. Great player and it looks like he's staying.
Thought comments on Curbs signings in Jan were a bit harsh. TBH they kept us up. If your trying to buy in Jan. your in the shit and the only players your gonna get are misfits and those who are not happy where they are. You will also pay over the odds for them, that's a given. Not a lot of choice really. Lucas Neill was the main reason we stayed up IMO. Brilliant signing. LBM was crap, but he came good for the last few games. He looked a bit unfit to me so the off season will do him the world of good. I reckon he'll be good for us next season. Davenport did OK but we needed a central defender at the time and he did the job most of the time. Good squad player. Upson supposed to be OK, but I'll have to take the word of others on him. Quashie did OK, but was brought in for some experience I suspect. Blanco was just a loan deal, no risk, if it worked great, if it didn't, who cares! If you look at Upson, Lucas and LBM, they were all club captains, so the pattern was obvious, he was tring to bring in professional football players to get some stability in a dressing room that seemed to have lost their fight and had forgotten their resposibilites as professional football players. It worked, so I think Curbs did well.
With regards to transfers,most names being thrown around at this early stage will just be rumour, so I don't take too much notice. Given we have time and money on our side, I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy the ride.
I'm with Micky, although I can't wait for the first kick of the ball, I just want to have a competative season and a decent Cup run. Any talk of CL or UEFA is bollocks considering the season we've just had. I'm not saying we shouldn't be ambitious, just to be realistic and give the club time to build the team.

Isnt it funny how at the end of the season EVERY player is RUMOURED to be going to EVERY club ffs how about waiting until they are signed Hammers before we go saying who is a good signing or a bad signing.I disagree with you anon that you seem to have the opinion that curbs cannot buy the right players, i personally believe the signings of both Davenport and Upson will be beneficial and Neill goes without saying and also believe that lbm will be quality for us. On that note there is no way Lucas would have signed for us if he didnot believe in the club or CURBS.We need to definately sign a quality left back,central midfielder and striker.I look fwd to the coming weeks to see who wishes to come and ply their trade at the HAMMERS,me for one is quietly confident of some more quality wearing our beloved shirt

why are Derby such longshots against West Brom? They finished 8 points clear of West Brom and yet the odds are $1.55 WBA, $2.30 Derby. To win in 90 mins they are $4.10...whats up with that?
I have a treble going with AC Milan into Hawthawn (who beat top of the table West Coast) into Derby.

I was off with the $4.10 that was the odds for Derby to be winning at half time :). It was $3.30 to win in 90 mins and $2.30 just to win.
I did clean up tho :) (Not as much as Micky and his jammy golf bet tho!
