Looks like it is a done deal, 15 mill pounds plus Harewood and Mullins 18 mill all up...
thats alot of money to pay for bent if you ask me. He is a clinical striker IMO but 18 mill worth? Bit expensive if you ask me...
should have had a crack at Tuncay Sanli who could play upfront and on the left from Turkey, great player and will be a good signing for Boro was available on a free.

I think we have to look at it without the money clouding our judgement. It's a ridiculous sum of money but will Darren Bent improve our team = yes. Everybody thought 7.5M was alot for Ashton at the time and bar his injury he has shown what a quality player he is. If Tevez is here next year then we will have four great strikers to choose from and if he is not here then I'm still quite excited about an Ashton/Bent partnership and Zamora waiting in the wings champing at the bit to get in the side.

Dave you make a good point. He will definitely improve the team and would work well with any other striker such as Ashton and hopefully Tevez.
I guess i bring up the money and thing you could possibly get a couple of players at a better or at least the same value for that much money.
Still reckon we muffed the Tuncay signing, ive seen him play a fair bit for turkey and fenerbahce and he is a versatile skilfull forward with pace and the bigger the game, the better he plays. He would have been perfect for us.
anyway hope bent does sign i wont be too disappointed he at least is a proven performer at prem league level.

Dave just on the money for Bent, I guess looking at the money i start thinking of Anderson and Nani, two youngsters with Ronaldinho and Christiano Ronaldo potential that were signed for less.
The question is whether they would have come to the Hammers in the first place. Either way the team is looking quite solid for next season and hopefully they can continue to slowly strengthen the squad.

Marlon isn't part of the deal from what I can gather.
Its not just the 18mill its also the wages of 75k week...thats a boat load of cash..sure it's Eggies cash but it'll bite us somewhere...I can't help thinking Eggie got sucked in to a pissing contest with Spurs. Not sure if we won or lost! The yids don't pay anyone more than 50k and offered Bent only 35k!
No doubt the Eggmeister is hannging his hopes on the new stadium with a higher capacity..big stadium = evil but then the alternative is the season ticket price at UP will go through the roof.
I'd have preferred Obefemi Martins or Berbatov than Bent personally.

Yeah Norvern we're spending money and paying waqes like Leeds were a few seasons ago. I hope eggy knows what he's doing. I'm in 2 minds over Bent like I said he improves our team so we should be happy but should we be going for somebody else for that money and are we setting ourselves up for a problem with extravegant wages?

beggers, the back's getting there mate, thanks. i'm still sore from the op wound but the main problem of the leg and back pain is gradually reducing. it's a slow process of physio and hydrotherapy but i'm on schedule according to my surgeon. i'm gonna try and get down to the pig tomorrow to grab a shirt and have a chinwag. it'll only be a pop-in i'm afraid but it'll be good to catch up with you guys again ;-)
