Ashton Hoping to be Back in January!
According to Skysports Dean Ashton says he is targeting a return in the new year. Recently somebody commented about a November return on here but I think that was the original time frame set. Hopefully he won't rush it and do a Stuart Peace so I guess that's why he is targeting January.
Deano has been much missed in the side and it will be like last season when we signed him in January and hopefully give our season a new dynamic. Are we ever going to see a full season from him though? :-(

Hopefully it will be like signing a new player when he comes back. If we can get back on track this week, then he should help us to build on a position of strength. Psychologically, he shouldn’t be affected by the poor start to the season either.

Things have been going really well, I have finished my time up at Total Fitness in Manchester. It was a fantastic place and the techniques they used there were brilliant, but there's only so much work you can do in the water. Now I need to do lots of work in the gym. It was great to be up in Manchester, as I got to see friends and family but it was hard at times being away from my girlfriend.
As for my ankle, it's coming on in leaps and bounds. I am fully weight-bearing on it and I'm looking at being able to run again in two weeks time. I won't be out running with the lads - that's still a long way off - but I will be building myself up bit-by-bit in the gym and setting myself targets to reach along the way.
I still don’t have a date for coming back; I don’t want to get too ahead of myself. It's the smaller goals that I am focussing on reaching at the moment, like being able to run again. However having my independence back is really important, little things like having a shower and stuff- you take it all for granted until it becomes difficult, so it's great to be able to do everything for myself again.
I am spending most of my time back in the club gym now. I tend to focus on training different areas of my body on different days; abdominal workout one day, weights the next, etc. There has been a bit of healthy competition involved in it too, the physio is having a race with me to see who can get the fittest – he wants to lose a bit of weight and he's trying to beat me. That's nice and it keeps the mood light and the spirits high.
In fact, the mood around the whole club is a bit lighter now after the team's two important wins against Blackburn and Arsenal. In terms of confidence they were massive games and I hope that's the turnaround point of our season. It's a shame we lost out to Boro at the weekend, but there are certainly a lot more smiles around the place.
Critics might make something of the fact that Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano weren’t involved in both of those wins, but in my opinion they still have a lot to offer this club. It can be hard enough for English players joining a new team, but when you are from a different country there is so much to adjust to. The fact that they both play for the Argentinian national team speaks volumes about how good they are.
After we played Arsenal, so much was made about what happened between Alan Pardew and Arsene Wenger. Personally, I think it was really over exaggerated and wasn’t that bad at all. In fact, it's nice to see such an expression of passion. Especially from someone like Mr Wenger who is normally quite reserved, it just showed how much the game meant to both of them.
It has been good to see my old Norwich team-mate Robert Green get his place back in the side. He was out for quite a long time and he suffered a terrible injury to his groin. He's not the sort of guy to offer you advice when you're injured though; he takes the mickey out of you instead! He's had a laugh and a joke with me since I've been injured and I like that, it keeps your spirits up. I'm sure he'll be looking to get selected for the England team in the near future and I'm sure he'll pull that jersey on again.
You can keep checking back to see how I'm doing if you like, I'll be keeping you up to date with all my progress and news right here on Icons.com.

Can't return quick enough IMO. I reckon Tevez and Ashton would work well?

Ashton and anyone mate! But yes, Deano and Tevez would work well, as would Deano and Marlon. We REALLY need that option.
Say, Beggers - send me an email, I've lost your address.
