Bit anxious about it really but to be fair with the exception of Bolton, not much is happening for any of the clubs. To put a positive spin on things Upson and Ashton will seem like new signings come Aug:)

Hello Hammers, I'm very surprised how quiet West Ham have been in the transfer market so far. But there's still plenty of time as most players are still on there jolly's or playing in tournaments. This off season, the transfers seem to have started a bit earlier than usual. If Tevez does leave, wouldn't you rather see him go abroad? as it would really hurt for your hero to come back in different colours and maybe even score against you??? Then again he might not leave? What's your views??? For the 1st time in living memory the Boro have signed someone before the last minute of transfer deadline day. with Woodgate signed up and now Aliadiere and Tuncay Sanli coming in with at least another 2 top signings being promised, we might be able to change from the slow predictable build up play to a fast, pacey and attacking style of play not seen since the Ravanelli, Emerson and Juninho days, but this time we've got a strong defence to back them up. I'm like you and log onto the BBC as soon as I wake up to see if we've signed anyone else and usually find off season boring but this year it's been quite exciting, with our 3 early signings. I can't wait to see Tuncay Sanli play, he reminds me of Tevez in a way, as he is a very busy and skillfull player who always gives 100% and knows where the net is. Blimey TT he looks awesome! How much did he cost? Wished we'd signed him! Unfortunately we don't seem to be looking outside Britain for players? sigh! Curbishley is obviously trying to go British to steady the ship as it were but considering the outrageous money being asked for them and that our best player last season was Tevez, seems very narrow minded to me.

Yeah if Tevez leaves for someone like Le arse or the mickeys I would be devastated! We are of course all hoping he stays. The prospect of him and Ashton up front is mouth watering. Gives me a hard on just thinking about it! Maybe Sanli and Tevez up front TT?

Aliadiere was on loan for us the season last if I recall? Couldn't break into the first team mind but neither could Mascherano so waht does that tell you!!! FFS!

We've also been promised 'world class players' but alls quiet on the western front, so who knows? Suspect the timing of this arbitration bollocks is not helping attract players either!

I was talking to Southgate when I was in the Boro at xmas and he wanted more British players in the team but as you say, the asking prices are a joke, But we do have 5 or 6 of our 1st team regulars are actually born in Middlesbrough, which is fantastic in this era of johnie foriegner. Dean Ashton will be like a new signing for you as long as he's the same player? as sometimes it takes a few months for players to get back into the groove after such a serious injury. I'm sure you'll be on the transfer merry go round soon. I watched Aliadiere when I was back in the Boro and he ripped Liverpool apart (6 v 3) with his pace, I just hope he can produce that kind of display week in week out, but he has said that he is determined to prove himself in the Premiership, and prove Wenger wrong for letting him go, once again only time will tell

I posted a comment under a previous topic about Tuncay. Great player and can play in multiple attacking mid positions and as a striker and he was a free transfer. I have also seen him play in big games for Turkey and from what I gathered the bigger the game, the greater he plays or tries everything to win the game.
Great signing for Boro, and it is poor management on WHU behalf because he would have come if we offered him a deal I guess. Plus he fits in positions where we need someone...


anyway the offseason is cr@p, ive given up checking on who is coming who isnt, its just too confusing. The club could do well to check out a few wingers in the Copa america or even have a dig at buying Ismael Matar from UAE who is a pretty good player as well. Dont know whats going on, but we have a fairly strong squad (if Tevez stays) I hope Curbs can make the right moves. I have my doubts a little though because he seems to have a lack of nous in the foreign player market. Anyway we will see what happens. I just hope we dont pay a ridiculous amount of money on players that are way overrated. Big money for proven top class performers.

Alidiere has talent but he's gotta produce week in week out and as you say time will tell if he up for it.

In fact I always wondered why Tuncay didnt leave to some of the bigger clubs before. Apparently the reason was that he wanted to go to a club where he was guaranteed to play and make an impact such as boro, villa etc..he didnt want to go to a massive club and just be a squad player. He is a good player, the danger with foreign players as we have all seen is it takes time to adjust for most of em.

The club really should send scouts to watch the u 20 youth cup especially the brazilians and the argentinians who are always ripe for the picking at decent prices.

there is a company called UBI which was previously TARBS which has about 10 turkish channels. Cost is about the same as foxtel. It is a digital connection with a sat dish so I dont see why it wouldnt be available up in brissy

Beggers:- One of our best friends over here, Sue, who we have known for years from back in the Boro is Steve Gibsons (The Boro Chaiman) sister, so we have always been involved a lot inside the club before moving to Brizzy. She organized for my eldest daughter to be the Boro mascot against Bolton (5 v 1), when we were back in the Boro at Xmas. Big Schwarzer gave her his autographed shirt and gloves after the game, thats when we started trying to organize him coming to the Pig & Whistle. Southgate told us then that they knew Viduka would leave, but had promised to give his all to help us stay up. and that he would love an all British team but it's not financially possible, with todays silly price tags. And how the youth developement at the club has been a huge success in bringing local talent through to the 1st team (this was started by Robson) The Hammers are quite similar in how they have brought some brilliant young local players through the ranks over the years, but the people at the top have been greedy and sold them on which is soul destroying to the fans. We were the same in the 70's and 80's selling the likes of Mark Procter, David Hodgson, Craig Johnston, Stuart Riply and Gary Pallister to name just a few who all went on to win major honours at bigger clubs. Hopefully the future is bright for both Clubs.

We have used Kitbag twice, once a few weeks ago.

There were two issues, one good, one bad.

1) when you added stuff to your basket it got slightly cheaper.

2) you couldn't select airmail only UPS which costs and arm & a leg - like 35 quid for the bunch of stuff we ordered but we paid it cause the sale on last year's kit was so damn cheap.

They do say somewhere on kitbag that once your order gets above 75 quid and a 'certain' weight and size airmail is no longer offered.

And the interface is glitchy. You can select airmail in some circumstances but when you update it doesn't change the postage amount - it stays as UPS cost.

I will say the UPS postage was f'ken fast, 3 days or so.

My take is that I will suffer kitbag's clunkiness when the gear is on mega special but I wouldn't use them at normal prices.

yeah one other complaint. They must be slow updating the items/sizes available on the site cause both orders we have selected things available on the website and they have sent the order without one item saying it was unavailable...and they don't contact you asking if you want to proceed or substitute something etc, they just send what they have...which could be a real bitch if the main item you wanted doesn't get sent but some other stuff you only added to make the postage worthwhile does.

So in your case G they might not have even had what you wanted at the time you 1st tried to order it, never mind later on...

Back to shitbag. According to my order with said company, and I use that term losely, when tracked, apparently 'picking' is in progress! Now that conjures up many images the least of which is the shirt I orderd being 'picked' from a shelf, placed on a truck for delivery to the airport! I fear I'm also a victim of Shitbag!

I too have contacted their customer service dept but I think there's a room somewhere at Shitbag with a mountain of unanswered emails next to two customer service blokes playing world of warcraft on their PC's. Sigh!

This is the way I read it (opinion, not fact):

Kia owns a very remarkable asset in Tevez. Obviously he wants the biggest possible return on his investment.

At the moment, he can best achieve this through very expensive one-year loan deals - thus retaining control of his assett while still earning a serious wedge off it.

Last season, Tevez and Mascherano were unknown quantities in Europe. So Kia placed them (at considerable expense) at a club in the world's most watched, most popular league. The ideal shop window and a win-win for Kia.

West ham (for whatever dumb, idiotic reason) didn't utilise Mascher and he was loaned off on equally good terms to Liverpool.

It is worth noting, Liverpool wouldn't touch Mascher in August, but were happy to pay out for an expensive loan deal 6 months later. The West Ham gamble paid off for Kia.

So what now? Well, Tevez was magnificent for a dozen games and the SheffU case has ironically made him big news.

But not quite big enough for anyone to meet the huge buy-out price.

So Kia agrees another enormous loan deal with West Ham taking us to next summer - when the whole saga starts again.

If a Tevez-inspired West Ham fulfil all our dreams and finish top-6 then we give Tevez European football.

If Eggy next summer announces another big transfer splash on top of the mega new stadium......well, then Kia and Tevez have some serious thinking to do.

Eggy will match any financial offer - that much is guaranteed. If Tevez is happy at West Ham and if West Ham are proving themselves to be as ambitious as we say....

All we have to do now is get that year-long deal secured.

This is bullshit, Zamora's going nowhere.

Always thought Tevez would be around for another season and I still think this will be the case. He needs to prove himself in the EPL before others will come shopping. He'll score 20+ goals this season and Ashton will get 15ish, Zamora chips in with 6 or so and the midfield with 8 to 10. It'll be raining goals.

It was on the SUFC official website and Watford website that Kabba did not play because it was in his contract.Kabba played 14 out of 15 games for Watford only missing the Sheffield game.

When asked on Skysports news McCabe said a) he didn't know about it and it can't be right

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has given evidence for Sheffield United as the Blades fight the Premier League in a bid to overturn their relegation.

A two-day hearing has started in London to decide if the Blades should be reinstated after West Ham - who stayed up - breached player ownership rules.

They were fined £5.5m but avoided a points penalty over the signing of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

Parry appeared at the arbitration tribunal on Monday.

He first drew attention to the rule breaches when Liverpool signed Mascherano from West Ham in the January transfer window.

In that month, West Ham were found guilty of acting improperly and withholding vital documentation over the Argentine pair's ownership but they escaped a points deduction and Tevez was allowed to continue playing.

Manuel Fernandes would be a sensational central midfielder and just over a year ago was rated on of as one of the most talented young central midfielders in Europe whilst at Benfica. He is a very good player and well worth around 10 million or so pounds.

I posted after the transfer window, that I am not sure Curbs is the man to spend the cash and the bids made for Bent and Andy Johnson have been ridiculous. When Berbatov can be signed for 10 mill pounds why are we bidding 17 million pounds for Bent? Unbelievable.

Look I dont know who wants to come to the club and who doesnt, but why couldnt we sign someone like Quaresma as a right winger a sensational player. As a striker, not really sure but why not little Nihat the Turkish striker or Diego Milito from Zaragoza surely they would be far cheaper than most options?

Deano, the shirts are white polo shirts with the Brisbane Hammers emblem on the front, top LHS of the shirt. On the RH sleeve there will be crosssed hammers with 'IRONS' underneath. On the back, just below the collar will be crossed hammers and underneath will be W.H.U.F.C. The crossed hammers and and any writing will all be in claret.

not sure in anyone is interested...the reebok factory outlet shop opposite the mater hospital has some older home strips for $35. They had 12 smalls and one 1 mega tent size (XXL or XXXL)

About 3 yrs old? V-neck with claret & blue stitching, jobserv logo, light blue sleeves at a 45% angle. The one just before they started with the small elastic v wedge.

The whole shop has 40% off the already discounted prices at the moment - reebok, ben sherman, rockport, royal elastic, la coste.

Yeah plenty of talk about Tevez. But if the asking price is true, 30 mill, then there's only a handful of clubs worlwide that could come up with that sort of dough. And although Tevez was awesome for us, it did take him some time to get into the league and I reckon clubs looking at him will need a little more convincing. So as I see it, it'd be a massive gamble to spend that sort of cash on a guy who's still green to European football.

I reckon he'll be running around the pitch for us for another season, then he might leave. Ashton and Tevez up front, gives me a hard on just thinking about it.

As for my own history it all started in 1998 when I started watching the EPL on SBS and started to notice that I liked West Ham's style of play. I also admired some of the players (eg Trev S, Rio, Shaka) so started to follow them. Simple as that - no family history or anything. Started to get right into them a lot more in about 2002 when I was able to watch them more regularly (thanks in part to having finished uni, and SBS again) and also follow them via internet. Never looked back. It helps that there are a LOT of WHUFC fans out there - I always seem to be meeting them, including my physio who actually got offered a job at Charlton but knocked it back coz he's a WHUFC fan! Ironically it was the relegation that made me a true hardcore fan, for two reasons, one was that I realised there was no way I could ever really support another team (although I tried with Portsmouth, it was never going to happen) and secondly coz I was able to go to the first playoff final at the PnW and experience what it was like as a WHUFC fan through and through and would never have it any other way!

Where do we start? I'm English and have been is Australia nearly 5 years. In the 6 years preceding my emmigration I had held a season ticket with my best mate in the Bobby Moore lower.

I started supporting West Ham around 86/87 because a friend of my mum's supported them and then he took me to my first game in 1989, a div 2 game vs Bournemouth in which we won 4-1. Julian Dicks scored from the penalty spot and Bournemouth were captained by Jamie Redknapp and managed by Harry. It was also Frank McAvennie's first substitute appearance since Chris Kamara broke his leg at the start of that season.

My old man was a Chelsea fan but he had very little involment in my life so I said fuck off, bollox you're a cunt!

They had ranked the team 1-100 in success in the FACUP.

All the kids had a team, mostly mancs, liverpool etc. When West Ham made the cup final in 75 I started supporting them partly cause I liked to be a bit different. I went to UK for the 1st time in 1990/1991 and followed them up & down the country for 12 months with my wife Carole(who is English from Cheshire, manc family).

Carole was 'converted'after we went to our 1st live match away in Barnsley in Dec 1990 and witnessed the passionate away supporters singing Billy Bonds Claret Blue Army etc..had tickets to the 1991 cup final confirmed through a relative, before the heartbreak of the semi loss to Forest..15 years on we went over for the cup final last year to make amends..we might have got beat but as they say it was one of the best cup finals of modern times!!

I had been involved in west ham email lists and stuff for years but was pretted wrapped a few seasons ago to find Dave & Graeme & Brisbane Hammers..

Ill give my story and hop on the band wagon. I was 7, just moved to england and started school. First question i got was, what team do you support. Course i had no fucking idea, so went home and asked my dad and West Ham was the answrer. Not entirely sure why we go for West Ham exactly but ive taken it up fairly passionatly.

Anyway for the next 2 years in england i lived and breathed Football. Went to Upton Park on a number of occasions and managed to only see them lose once. (Think it was bolton 1-0 in a cup match).

Anyway last time i saw them play at UP was either just before or just after christmas '97. And now i really miss it

Sure was, and I remember at the time thinking should I change clbs as I hated the word West in Sports Team Names, anywho couldn't decide on how to redecide so I stuck with the Hammers.
All it was in the early years was checking the Pink Pages in the Courior Mail on a Monday for tables and results. My step father bought me my first West Ham jersey when he went back home. Still have it, he also bought back some magazines and a yearbook, though I think they are gone. Loaned them to a Palace fan in Yr 12 I think.

What we do & don't do about strikers hinges around next weeks talks with Tevez..if he goes we will have to do something. Even with Ashton's return, Ashton, Bobby & Cole won't cut it on their own...just not enough options/depth.

As for Yossi he has been bitching and moaning about this and that for too long. He was right in the middle of all the team disharmony at the outset and I think despite moments of brilliance the ledger will show he hasn't been a consistent performer week in week out for us. I think Berkovich had more flair in attack...

You've gotta take chances to progress but Bent, Bellamy, Johnson are just not the answer for me. And they are way too expensive.

I don't mind Bent but he's not 18 mill and he didn't want to play for us from the start. Why chase him at all?

Still plenty of time though so I will be keeping the faith in Curbs and Eggy I'm just a little bit nervous after this episode in the West Ham soap opera.

I think we have to look at it without the money clouding our judgement. It's a ridiculous sum of money but will Darren Bent improve our team = yes. Everybody thought 7.5M was alot for Ashton at the time and bar his injury he has shown what a quality player he is. If Tevez is here next year then we will have four great strikers to choose from and if he is not here then I'm still quite excited about an Ashton/Bent partnership and Zamora waiting in the wings champing at the bit to get in the side.

Its not just the 18mill its also the wages of 75k week...thats a boat load of cash..sure it's Eggies cash but it'll bite us somewhere...I can't help thinking Eggie got sucked in to a pissing contest with Spurs. Not sure if we won or lost! The yids don't pay anyone more than 50k and offered Bent only 35k!

No doubt the Eggmeister is hannging his hopes on the new stadium with a higher capacity..big stadium = evil but then the alternative is the season ticket price at UP will go through the roof.

I'd have preferred Obefemi Martins or Berbatov than Bent personally.

Apparently reading elsewhere Neill has had a chat about some of his teammates to Curbs and has said he would like an Aussie or two to be drafted into the side.

Grella, i dont know if he will handle the premier league its far too fast and he simply doesnt have the pace or the range of passing to compensate, i could be wrong, i love Grella but IMO he is far better suited to Italy and Spain, and is a fantastic DCM in those leagues.

Cahill would be a good signing but i cant see how or why he would leave.

Viduka i dont think is interested in us, but the club has been linked with him.

It makes for interesting reading thats for sure.

I have to say that we have kept things very quiet, in the transfer market thats for sure.

Dave & I had a discussion the other day about why should we give a fuck if we have to pay a bit more than what they are worth as long as we get them but somewhere along the way if you consistently fork out over the odds there will be an impact...if you pay £2m or £3m over the odds for each of 5 players then that's £10m that could have picked up a quality player.

How many other clubs would be prepared to pay £18m for Bent? £12m, maybe £15m, *maybe* but £18m is just getting crazy imho.

I can't see us paying anywhere near that sort of money for those type of players. Yes we've got cash but we also have time and although I'm as keen as the next bloke to get some good players in, I think some patience are in order.
