Hammers vs Arsenal Sept 29 @ Indooroopilly Pig n Whistle..
***Change of venue - well a change is as good as a holiday. ***
*** Sticky post please scroll down for recent articles ***
The Brisbane Hammers will be meeting at 10pm Saturday September 29th @ Indooroopilly Pig n Whistle for our biggest game of the season so far against London rivals Arsenal.
So why change the venue? Well it's actually for our good mate Micky. The Pig n Whistle have a contract clause that their ex workers can't return to the pub for a period of time so consequently Micky who recently resigned can not go to the Pig in Eagle St until October. Arj has kindly agreed to set us up in a room at Indooroopilly so Micky can attend the game and join in the fun.
This is a one off change and we will be back at our prefered venue of Eagle St from October onwards.

I have no complaints if you guys go to Eagle St - they'll show it for you for sure. Tony & I will be going along to Indooroops with Micky and people are welcome to join us. We can just reconvine for the next one at eagle st.

Xpert Eleven
Join in the fun with your fellow West Ham supporters in an easy to play and non time consuming footie game where you are the manager.
It is free to play or you can choose to become a V.I.P and get extra stats.
It only takes a short while to get your team going (read the rules and faq, it´s worth it) and once set you only need to spend 5 minutes setting your team up for the next match. Of course, you can spend more time on it and the more you do the more enjoyable it will get but even then the time needed to play is very limited.
So if you want a bit of fun, banter (anything goes) and something different, join your fellow Hammers at www.xperteleven.com and request to join league number 27747.
It´s fun and it just West Ham.

Dave,
This is Paul from Adelaide, was hoping you might be able to put on the site the next meeting for the Adelaide Hammers. We have secured a new venue that will be showing Hammers games whenever they are on.We will be getting together for the Arsenal game on the 29th Sept at the Strathmore Hotel, North Terrace (opposite casino),will be there from 9.30pm, so as this is our first get together in our new venue would really like to see all the Adelaide Hammers attend to show the Strathmore that this is a beneficial decision. Thanks from Paul,Adelaide Hammers

After having a chat with the pig I'd rather people (you & Bret) came with us to indooroopily and gave eagle St a miss this week. If you want me to explain then feel free to give me a call.

Actually it's all a bit quiet full stop. I must admit I'm partly to blame for not even acknowledging that we played a game at the weekend let alone putting up a report. I think I was a bit dispondent after the result.

Well Dave to say i was disappointed would really be an understatement.Including me there was 3 of us,yes you read it right.I am being optimistic here but am going to believe that this was due to the AFL Grand Final and it being a long weekend. The management staff at the Strathmore was excellent about it and seemed to understand. The area that they have set aside for us is excellent,we ahve a large Plasma tv (loud volume)and three paces to the bar it doesnt get much better than that.We are going to try to see if we can get in there for the Villa game (they are committed to the Rugby World Cup).If we get no response to our next get together (whenever it will be)we will have to review the situation here in Adelaide.A disappointe Paul here in Adelaide.

How many Email addresses do you have? Maybe send something out to try and rally them up and say how disappointed you are with the lack of numbers.

I've got 70 emails and of those only 20 or 30 turn up so I have 40 or 50 not reply and don't come most weeks so 17 is no real suprise really.
All I can suggest is you appeal for numbers and say you've been dissapointed with recent turnouts.

Ok well if anybody else can't get in to view it here's my article about my first game....
My first West Ham game was in the 1989/90 season. I’d been supporting them for a few years by then but had not had the chance to go. I came from a single parent family and my mum hated football – my old man was a bit of a hooligan in his day which had made my mum anti football. My Dad was a Chelsea fan so to spite him I followed the Hammers. A friend of my mum’s was a West Ham fan and it had been him who had pushed West Ham into my veins from the age of 7 around ‘85/’86 and it stuck. It took some guts to support a proper team when everybody at school followed Liverpool, Everton or Man United - especially as we’d been relegated in 1988/’89.
My first game on paper was a rather unglamorous tie against Bournemouth in the old Division 2. Little did I know at the time but Bournemouth were to have some uncanny West Ham ties in that game that would become clear a few years later. They were managed by our old mate Harry Redknapp who’d later become a long serving West Ham manager and captained by his young son Jamie who’d later go on to captain Liverpool. My first visit through the Upton Park turnstiles cost a mere 2 quid for kids and 5 quid for adults – prices that would be all but unheard of in just the next few seasons when thanks to the Taylor Report sanctioned after the horrific scenes at Hillsborough, terracing was replaced by all seater stadia. I guess I was witnessing the death of an era; the final years of football being a working class sport.
So to the game itself. The Hammers of course won the game as expected with a final result of 4-1. The game marked the return of our previously prolific goal scorer Frank McAvennie who made a substitute appearance towards the end after having his leg broken by Chris Kamara in the opening game of the season. But the player whose performance had the most effect on me was a young left back named Julian Dicks. From this moment Julian would become not only my hero but he was starting to become an idol on the terraces at Upton Park. His impact on the game was illustrated by surging runs and crunching tackles which earned him respect at West Ham throughout his career. He capped off his performance with a trademark penalty blasted into the middle of the goal. Julian didn’t miss too many penalties through his career but he had missed his 2 prior to this game by trying to place them. I don’t think he ever placed one again in his career as he blasted home against Bournemouth for 3rd time lucky. In my opinion Julian was one of the best players to have never played for his country, a career looked on by various England Managers fearful of his disciplinary record and tough guy image without ever having the guts to give him a crack. He was even told by Glenn Hoddle that if he grew out his shorn locks he would have an image more desirable to the FA.
Many more games followed for me and football became an addiction for many years with West Ham at times feeling like a life sentence as every path to glory seemingly tarnished in shit. I’ll always feel the passion and always hold the hope of seeing the glory days return with silverware in the cabinet once more. When I turned 18 I acquired my first Season ticket and held it for 6 years before I immigrated to Australia in 2002. I now passionately follow from afar with the Brisbane Hammers troops; occasionally making a trip home around the fixture list in order to attend the maximum amount of games.

Ashton Leaves It Late
Deano scored the only goal of the match in the 90th minute against Plymouth Argyle. I couldn't even find audio commentary so I'll let the sporting life live update commentary describe it for you :-
"90' Fantastic goal by Dean Ashton (West Ham) volleyed right-footed (bottom-left of goal) from right side of penalty area (18 yards).West Ham 1-0 Plymouth. Assist (cross) by Kyel Reid (West Ham) from left wing."
Parker played well apparently.
Team - Wright, Neill, Collins, Gabbs, McCartney, Ljungberg (Bowyer 74), Parker (Noble 88), Mullins, LBM, Ashton, Cole (Reid 63)
Mancs lost 0-2 to Coventry at Old Trafford! Villa lost to 0-1 to Leicester. (NRC & Marlon both started)

Full time to the mancs. As i said in the KUMB forums someone mentioned a program and room that someone was streaming the audio from WHUTV.
I got in about 50 minutes into the game but it seemed to be very back and forth and lucas fucked up a few times from the sound of it.
Feel a bit sorry for CFC cos the 2nd biggest cheer of the night was when he was subbed off. Ill keep an ear out for other cup games being streamed like tonight.
Hoping For Shef utd in the next round :D Id go out to watch that

I had to laugh when I saw that. Anybody used to play that game when you were a kid - simon says? You'd have to do whatever someone says but if they don't say "simon says" before it an you do it then you're out.
I know - I need to get out more. LOL!

This is the sort of game we would generally lose, so to grind out a result was great news.
I'm with westham5096, dare to dream lads! Heaps of football between now and then though, but it would be nice.
Booing CFC, FFS!!!
Good call on the Blades Chris, would be tasty.

Nothing wrong with a grudge match infact I love'em! And we'd have injuries no matter what, it's the West Ham way. I'd relish the chance to give'em a spank'n. They deserve it for being a pain in my balls all off season. Fuck'n Norven Monkeys!

They got relegated we didn't - we should just take our satisfaction from that. I would've thought it would be them more wanting the meet up so they could stick the knife in us - I know I certainly don't fancy a trip to Brammel Lane.

You turning into Ghandi Dave or what :)? Not me mate, I won't be forgetting too soon all the shite they put us through. Slagging us off any chance they got! Those Norven monkeys have made the list! And I should think there'd be plenty of us who would like to play them again. As for Brammel Lanes that place is no threat, FFS, playing at home to a packed house against an out of form team and needing only a draw to survive....well you know the story. "Let's be'avin it", I say. Anyway, be a game not to be missed at the Pig that's for sure.

ps was that a Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels quote or a coincidence?

couple of mixed quotes going on. I was asking Beggers if his 'Fuck'n Norven Monkeys!' was inspired by Lock Stock. The big geezer says it on the way out of the strip club.
But I also included the Die Hard reference when imploring Dave to take the sandwich board to Sheffield.
All I know is 'I hope they're not pikies. I hate fucking pikies.' <- pick the movie this quote is from. Easy Peasy.

Eggy To Step Back
Been getting reported overnight that Eggy will step back from being the executive chairmean and remain as a non-executive chairman.
The real bank role behind the take over, Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson, will take a more hands on role.
To learn more about BG, this article from a couple of weeks ago is a good read.
Kristjan, an Icelandic member of the yahoo West Ham list posted some comments from Eggie on an Icelandic news site :-
"Scott Duxbury will be taking over the daily running of the club fromEggert.
"When we took over the club last year, it was never my intention totake care of the daily running of the club, 24 hours a day. However,I took that on to begin with. A lot has been going on in recentmonths but we thought this was the right time for us to make thesechanges. In fact I needed some time to breathe. I have been verybusy and now I can concentrate on other things relating to the futurevision of the club."
It adds that Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson, the owner of West Ham will bemore involved in the work of the club in the future."

TJ - Hopefully Camera will get a start - he scored 2 for the stiffs last night.
As for this eggy business I'm not sure what to make of it. Eggy always said Gunnarsson was not interested in the football and he was leaving that side of it to Eggy. I hope we don't end up with Egg on our faces (pun intended). Anything has to be better then Brown and his shite regime though.

Who will take the West Ham penalties this year? Apparently Bellamy missed one in pre season. I've heard Noble suggested..
Anyone wanna have a crack at listing who will take pens for each of the PL clubs this year?
Could come n handy for fantasy leagues..

I have a stoopid question. When there is a partial round like this mid week round, is it just tough shit if you can't field a team of players that are actually involved in games?
I have 3 hammers + Gerrard, Fabregas, Martins none of which will be involved in gameweek 2, so only 9 of my squad can get points..

Munky, if you make more than 1 transfer in a week during the season then you get docked points, so if you want to make a transfer then you'll probably find it's not worth it.

ta..yeah I worked out the one free sub. I guess if you want to make other changes you need to be confident that they can contribute more than the 4 pts cost.
I guess everyone knows you can look at other people's team selections after a round is finished by clicking on their name in the league ladder.

Dave I am in utter disbelief that you have even thought about putting Fat Frank in your dream team let alone actually do it. This means that you are actively cheering on Fat Frank, a situation and that I find totally unacceptable as a Hammers fan.
I am officially not talking to you for a week now... I urge all others do to do the same for anyone that has Fat Frank in there team...

Micky - unfortunately it is essential to have Fat frank in a winning fantasy side - the cunt gets watched every week and therefore picks up the bonus points. For example Noble was outstanding against Birmingham yet the 3 & 2 bonus points went to Birmingham players cos nobody on the panel was watching the game with any seriousness. They will always watch Chelsea and their eyes will always be on Lampard - it's a sad story but a true one I'm afraid. Same with Gerrard & Ronaldo.

I can not believe that you are now 'rateing a fantasy league' above the Hammers obvious dislike for Fat Frank. I must insist that you remove him from your team at once and that anyone who has him does the same. If I catch you cheering him on then there will be serious consequences.
I now urge everyone not to talk to Dave for a week and further punish you by ordering you to purchase the first round against Arsenal

Micky, Tony, you guys can't talk, you have Steve Gerrard in your team. Stevie fucking Gerrard. The man who single handedly robbed us of winning the FA cup. Gerrard is just as bigger a c*nt than Fat Frank.

now wait just a cotton picking minute...one has always played his heart out for his team, and one was a fat lazy c*nt who couldn't be assed to put any effort in to get fit and or earn his wages...
i.e. Gerrard was paid good money to score that goal. Lumpard was paid good money to play for us.
And he's a smug c*nt who needs to have the smirk smashed off his face.
I was there at Elland Road when he danced with the corner flag like his dad. Unfortunately he's not fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Frank Snr when it comes to West Ham.
No offence :)

Well Said Northern... I can't believe that Tel that you are comparing Fat Frank who is very unloyal and Fat and overrated to possibly the best player in the world who has ultimate loyalty for his team.
If we are to remove everyone who has scored against us then we would probs only have a few players each to pick...
you lot need to get a grip, picking world class players if fully ok, picking unloyal Fat cunts is NOT...

Let me just set the record straight and say that i was never praising Fat Frank hes a c*nt just like Gerrard. And i was never comparing the effort and loyalty that both players have. I was just saying I hate Gerrard just as much because of the goals he scored vs us in the FA cup final. I know that lots of players have scored against us but no two goals hurt more than Gerrard's two in the final.

Hammers vs Boro @ the Pig n Whistle 15/09/07
***Sticky post - please scroll down for more recent articles***
Saturday 15th September
West Ham vs Boro live @ the Pig n Whistle midnight kick off
The Brisbane Hammers will be out in force @ the Pig n Whistle once again - usual 10pm meeting time. The Brisbane Boro have a great contingent and I'm looking forward to catching up with likes of Teeside Trev & Littlelol.
Be there or be square!
Despite a glut of injuries to our midfield, we've had a reasonable start to the campaign thanks to our away form after a false start at home against Man City. So here's hoping we continue our good run and get our home season off to a start.

Just to clear something up the pig got a bit annoyed with us singing last time we were there - this is not them being killjoys. Inside we can sing as loud as we like but when we're outside is when there is a problem. Apparently because of the residential block opposite the pig are by law enforced to keep the levels below a certain level. These levels are apparently breached by us singing outside (due to our awesome support). Hence I urge you to sing your heads off inside the pub but when you're in the out door areas we have to keep it down.

Norvern I am blocked from roosroos too and I am just on a standard Big Pond ADSL account.
Should be along for this one just before KO.
Dave that probably explains why Tiny had the shits, although he could have just explained the position rather than just threaten to throw Terry out repeatedly.
I, like most of the Irons I imagine, don't want to do anything to piss off the Pig - it's by far the best footy venue in town.

just a note but I turned up at the Pig on Saturday about 11.55pm and Arj and the other guy whose name I can't remember couldnt have been more helpful to me, despite being rammed after Riverfire they found a spare tele and got the west ham game on there for me...was really impressed - just a shame I can't remember much of it';-)
Will try and make it for the Boro game but may be interstate, not sure yet

Dicky - yeah they're pretty good to us really. Nice to hear they looked after you.
They also would've probably let us come down as a group but it was actually my call for them not to put it on for us as I thought it'd be too much for them due to the amount of functions for Riverfire and the fact that they had a whole load of Liverpool fans expected to turn up for their game. I thought we'd give them a weekend off from us as they'd have enough to contend with. Arj did say at the time that if we had enough people intrested he'd have put us on but it was probably too much to deal with really so I said don't worry we'll make it a big one for the boro game.
The yids have said on their site that our game wasn't on cos they were only showing the big teams cos of riverfire - pmsl well like they'd show spurs if that was the case :p

Nah I'm not going on - I'll leave it at that but I thought it was funny that they're still making comments about us especially as it came from Phil who was being all high and mighty in the first place and complaining to the pig n whistle about us. I don't buy into this "who's the bigger club" shit anyway cos at the end of the day we're both 2 mediocre clubs (along with 14 others outisde the big 4)who have acheived fuck all in recent times so it's not like either of us have much to brag about.
I have an exam on the Monday too Risky so even if it was on the Saturday I'd have to stay at home and revise. Probably for the best anyway ;-)

Hello Brizzy Hammers, Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday night. I don't think that there will be many of us, as most of the Boro are saving themselves for the week after against Sunderland. But it should be a great game as both teams are starting to hit a bit of form, having said that we never get anything at Upton Park.(get my excuses in early hahaha)

Actually we'll be out in the back garden and the Yids will be in the front garden. The all blacks will be on the big screen inside followed by the wallabies. Arj is setting up a big screen for us outside - Liverpool will be out the back prior to our game so we'll follow on from them. I suggest we all meet out the back and don't go round and wind the yids up this time - I'm sure the gooners will do that for us anyway.

It's this sort of talk that causes tension and animosity between us dear Hammers and those nice young men from Tottenham. Can't we all just hope for an Arsenal victory followed by a few pints of lager and then 3 points for the Irons?

Not the best photographer in the world either beggers - my nan takes better photos than some of those and she shakes like a washing machine on spin cycle ;-).
Only joking mate - great to see them to be honest - I loved the way the first 2 were of the pub and the pie n mash shop. Did you have jellied eels? Never been game to try them myself but I like a nice plate of pie, mash n liquor. It's been so long - last time I missed out cos the queue was about 10 miles long and I'd have missed the game.

Fair play to the boro fans who had to listen to non stop singing for about 2 and a half hours.

Regular reader if not contributor of the website.
Was over in London this week and went to yesterday's game. Great result, to be fair 3-0 flattered us and some of our defending was a bit ropey. Lucky they couldn't score in a brothel and we have England's real number one between the sticks.
Atmosphere in the ground was ok, although have to say thought the crowd were a bit quiet apart from when they were giving Cole stick when he came on (poor bugger - don't they know it's a confidence game). My brother has two season tickets so I was lucky enough to have no problem getting in, apparently now there are 26,000 season ticket holders (the limit) and there is a waitlist for season tickets. Basically every game is a sell out and the only time we won't be at capacity will be went away teams don't take all their tickets (eg. Wigan).
Had a great week here, went to Wembley on Wednesday and the sun has been shining!
Bet my team is still bottom of the league, I should probably make a change or two!
Cheers

As I said in an earlier comment we never get anything at your place, and as some of you have said the scorline did flatter you a bit, It could have been 4 v 4, but we fell asleep for 10 minutes and it's all about taking your chances, and you did that. I think the Boro will play worse games than that this season and get the 3 points. TTTeeside Trev TTTeeesside Trev

Ringo has a scuffle
c+p BBC
N Ireland players brawl on plane
Northern Ireland stars Keith Gillespie and George McCartney were involved in a fight on an aeroplane before it flew the team from Iceland to London.
The incident came after a verbal exchange and punches were thrown before other players were forced to intervene.
IFA chief executive Howard Wells told BBC Radio 5live: "As I understand it there was an altercation, so we need to look into it and establish the facts.
"When we know what happened we'll take whatever action we deem appropriate."
Cabin crew reported the altercation to Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington before the flight took off.
Wells added: "The manager didn't see exactly what happened because I think it happened before he got on the plane, but we've spoken and we'll do what we need to do.
"I'm not totally in the dark as to what happened, but everyone has the right to state their case and express their opinion.
"I will be the first to admit this isn't helpful. It doesn't help the image of the IFA and it doesn't help the image of the game, but we are where we are and we have to deal with it."

Bellamy scores two
The mans in form. Gets two and was a right handful by all accounts. Toshack couldn't say enough good things about him. Hopefully Deano can get on the board soon as well.
Bellamy and Ashton the new Cottee and Mcavennie? Too early to tell at this stage but how good would that be!

Ashton Dropped to the Reserves - Off in January..
Curbs has demoted Ashton to the reserves and indications are he is now surplus to requirements with Carlton Cole & now Camara on the books. Liverpool have expressed an interest in a cut price 4m deal in the January window.
"Dean Ashton is included in a strong reserve squad which plays Readingtonight. The striker is making the most of the international break to getsome more match action under his belt. He is joined by fellow first-teamplayers, Jimmy Walker, Luis Boa-Morte, Carlton Cole, John Pantsil andChristian Dailly, who makes his way back from injury, after suffering afractured foot.
Kevin Keen's squad to face Reading, at Aldershot FC'sRecreation Ground, tonight is from:Walker, Blackmore, Pantsil, Dailly, Miller, N'Gala, Boa-Morte, Stokes,Collison, Reid, Cole, Hines, Jeffrey, Hales, Stanislas, Ashton, Sears,Blackwell.Kick-off is 7pm."
****For those of you who are a little slow on the uptake - yes it's a wind up - Deano is not going anywhere****

C+P from WHO
OLD GEEZER 10:24 Tue Sep 4
Reserves draw at Reading
Not sure if already on here but just got back from seeing the stiffs play. Not a great game but Ashton was on for the whole game without much success. 0-1 at halftime but CFC came on for the 2nd half and caused Reading plenty of trouble and finally scored with a belter about 10 minutes from time. A cracker that was too good for this game but made going worthwhile.
The boy Stokes looks promising but on the night I was a little disappointed with Collinson. First time that I have seem either. Also Reid has loads of pace but very little else IMO.

I'm glad he's been given this game cos he was very rusty at the weekend and I think against better opposition we'll struggle to carry him on that form. I understand he needs games but after that showing I'm all for Curbs giving it to him on a piecemeal basis until he's got himself a bit sharper.

Shit Ground No Beer
Great Result, 3-0 away with 2 to Matty and 1 to Bellamy...all quality goals.
Due to unjuries we had a bit of a make-do midfield that included none of the new signings....bowyer, mullins, noble, matty but they were superb and as Risky said we could have had 10.
Before the game Reading sent a letter to the club saying that no standing would be strictly enforced and due to our behaviour in that regard last year, no beer would be available to away fans. I laughed out loud when I heard the fans singing 'Shit Ground, No Beer'.
Bellamy's pace gives us so many opportunities that we have not had in recent times.
Matty is really starting to grow in confidence and who's to say it is not competition for his spot that has caused his dramatic improvement? His two goals were top shelf and he could have had more.
Ashton started but looked a little off the pace, more so than against Wigan last week. But it is time under his belt that was badly needed.
I thought Carlton Cole was quite lively when he came on. Let's not forget he hasn't had much match time either...
Green's penalty save was class. To be honest he should have had a 2nd booking for the challenge and not even been there to save it but luck's a fortune. He was clearly not 100% towards the end and I think Curbs should have subbed him to be safe.
Green, McCartney, Anton, Upson, Neill, Matty, Mullins, Noble, Bowyer (Spector 81), Bellamy (LBM 90), Ashton (Cole 64). Subs Not used Wright, Gabbidon.
7 points from 12 (7 from out last 9) is a good return given the injury situation (some might say crisis!)
We now have a fortnight to work on the walking wounded...Parker should be back and both Green & Bellamy will certainly appreciate the break.
Sheffield United went down to scunthorpe, rotflmao.

Teeside Trev if you read this when I try to go to the roosroosroos site I get this message :-
"You are using an Invalid IP to access this site!"
I'm using Virgin's new wireless 3G broadband package which is gonna be fuggin popular.
I'll report it to them, but thought I'd mention it.
Foxtel's EPL on demand website is suggesting my ip is from the UK and therefore can't use their streams...

Very happy and somewhat surprised at the result. Never expect much at Reading. 7 out of 12 points is very encouraging considering our injuries. Seems Curbs has instilled a real "fight for places" atmosphere in the squad which has been long overdue. Matty especially is playing outta his skin at the moment. Bring on the Boro! Might see if I can make it down to the Pig

Munky, wot's Virgin broadband like? I've been looking at swapping to it from Optus. It does VOIP too, am I right?

given I have been stuck with dial ip in an adsl blackspot (pretty fuggin narrow blackspot, my neighbours can get it!) it's pretty damn good :)
$60 month for a phone service with free local and national long distance calls + 4gb of 512/384 wireless net access shaped to 128kb.
You get a fixed line number and whitepages listing...after 30 Sep you can port your number. Then I'll be telling Telstra to ram their stinking landline and never darken my door again.
I get speed test results of up to 700kb.
Downsides - P2P is throttled to 64kb though I have been getting individual torrents up to 20k/sec each ; international calls are expensive and they are actively preventing access to calling cards to make you use their service ; if the service goes down so does your phone though I haven't experienced this and I have a mobile anyway.
Not sure what streaming will be like but with foxtel choice who cares ;-)

VIRGIN mobile's new wireless broadband customers were left without internet services for at least five hours this morning, the company has confirmed.
A spokeswoman for Virgin Mobile said the outage started sometime between 3am and 7am this morning, and was restored at around 8am, an hour after technical staff returned to the carrier's broadband operation centre.
Virgin's technicians were not present to monitor the outage or restore the HSDPA broadband service when it occurred, the company said.
"Virgin Mobile does not have the exact time when the outage occurred on hand at this time," the spokeswoman said.
"From 3am to 7am our call centre is closed as Virgin Mobile does not offer a 24 hour call centre service."
Virgin customers reported major difficulties reconnecting to the service around 8am this morning.
Customers that Australian IT spoke to and who asked not to be named said that it took 20 minutes to login to the service from around 8am today.
Broadband providers are often become overloaded after service outages as customers attempt to reconnect in large numbers.
Virgin's spokeswoman stressed that customers were still able to access the company's VoIP (Voice over IP) landline service during the internet outage.
The company has conceded that it had experienced some "teething problems" with the service which launched late July.
"This is the first broadband HSDPA network so of course we were expecting some teething problems in the early stages," a Virgin Mobile spokeswoman said.

I can't beleive how fickle a couple of you are LMAO - 2 weeks ago curbs was a cunt who didn't know anything.
It was an awesome game and well done curbs. We rode our luck at times but also should've got more goals with the one on ones we had. We won't get that many chances in other games so we need to be more clinical. B+ for performance though!

And a bit more
After struggling with Virgin Mobile's broadband over 3G for a couple of weeks, I discovered a modem tweak that has completely changed my Internet experience.
Virgin Broadband uses mobile phone networks to provide users with an Internet connection and the equivalent of a land-line phone number.
One feature of the service is that, depending on the strength of the signal in the user's area, the modem will switch between three different mobile standards -- GPRS, UMTS and HSDPA.
GPRS is technically 2.5G and offers an experience similar to dial-up. UMTS is starter 3G, providing a slight step up with downlinks of 384Kbps while HSDPA, known as 3.5G, is the most desirable, with a current potential download speed of 3.6Mbps.
This switching feature does have its uses -- when you are in an area outside 3G coverage, the service will drop down to GPRS and still remain connected to the Internet.
However, one issue -- and, after speaking with the tech support team at Virgin, an issue that affects lots of people -- is that the 3G signal is relatively weak inside buildings, causing the modem to stick with a "safe" GPRS link instead of risking a more challenging 3G connection.
On my modem's connection status page, the signal strength floats between -85db and -103db.
I hate GPRS. It makes downloading large files painful and I struggled even using Web sites like Gmail and Facebook -- YouTube was impossible.
An important fact is that a very weak 3G connection is still about six times faster than GPRS, so in most cases it is better to kill the GPRS altogether and force the modem to stick with 3G.
Luckily, Virgin's modems can be set to do just that.
The process takes about one minute and for me, it made a world of difference.
Follow the steps below and see how you go:
Connect to the modem management console (192.168.1.1) and log in.
Make sure the Internet is not currently connected (either press the connect button on the top of the modem or click the disconnect button in the console).
Click on the Connection Settings icon.
Click Network Connections.
Click WAN Cellular.
Click on the Settings button.
Scroll down to "Network Type" and select "UMTS only".
Click the Apply button. When the page reloads press OK.
Now your modem will ignore the GPRS signal so you have to beware of two things.
Firstly, because your modem is now set to ignore GPRS, it will only connect in 3G, which means if your 3G signal is extremely weak, instead of switching to dial-up speeds, the connection will cut out completely.
Secondly, watch those download limits. When my signal was mainly GPRS the amount of bandwidth being used was minimal and it seemed I would never be able to use up my 4GB limit. But with a continuous 3G connection, those megabits just fly through the sky.

I would love him to succeed, seriously, and I'll eat my words and shut up if he does, I promise. At the end of the day I just want West Ham to do well like the rest of us.

beex - how do you measure success?
What about his last 15 games? 11 wins 1 draw 3 losses.
You can go on about his start but man did he inherit some shit. I struggle to see why you think he's a cunt. You slagged him after one game and I told you to give him a chance before complaining and he hasn't lost since - 4 games later. We're currently 11th with every team below us having played an extra game.

Dave, don't you think it's a bit futile this discussion? I don't like Curbs and you do, end of. You think he saved us last year, I don't. I don't believe you should count last year at all now, it's over. He has done well after losing the 1st game and I was very frustrated in the way we lost it. Curbs had a howler of a tactical game against Man City. As I've said on numerous occasions I want him to do well, I just don't rate him. At the end of the day he is our manager and I'll stick by him but that doesn't mean I have to like or rate him, does it?

id have to agree with dave here...i mean the city game was unlucky...bobby finished shit...deano missed some chances that 7 or so game sin would be bread and butter and bellamy was finding his feet...as were the other new signings
i think weve been improving each game and are running and passing like old...the teams jelling and i think curbs can take a fair bit of credit for that
as for the signings im happy with em...tons of experience and talent...at the 11th hour we got a good bench striker...im happy
(sorry about the rant)

I wouldn't say I like him you don't. The jury is out for me on curbs but I don't think it warrants slagging him off every time we lose. All I was saying is his current record isn't too bad. You say you'll stick by him but I'm at a loss to understand how saying he's a cunt is sticking by him.
Anyway my original comment was not specifically directed at you and you challenged me on the issue so I'm not sure why you're telling me the discussion is futile. As munky said though you did give him a pretty good wrap in this thread ;-)
Things could always be worse mate - we could have McClaren as manager and have signed Emile Hesky.
Hope you make it to the pig - will be nice to see you. :-)

I admit calling him a cunt is too harsh. Call it a gut reaction from the 1st game. I've been quite nice to him since. Hope to see you at The Pig mate. I'll be in my new "I Love Curbs" T-Shirt so you won't miss me :p

Matty got rwarded with a brace but probably should have had a hattrick. Bowyer also missed a sitter. And green saved a penalty :P

I thought the allround performance by the WHOLE team was outstanding.Keep playing like that and we will have a very successful season, yes we missed quite a few but on another day they go in.Good to see Matty get on the scoresheet twice (still not a great fan) but credit where credit is due.Bring on the Boro.We will win that one as its my birthday and will be in town getting Hammered (drunk as well).Well done to the boys tonight a great result.CMON U IRONS

Dodgey Game?
What planet are you from.... Liverpool away is a dodgey game... Hope to some shit from Ciderville is as easy as it comes...
Even if we rest a few (and we didn't against Bristol so we shouldn't against these) we should be hammering dicks like this..
Away, maybe slightly tricky.. but at home and playing well.. a loss would be unacceptable

For a start, Chesterfield was away and we were playing poor... and it appears that unlike you... I was shocked at the result. It was a shit result and was not accepted by the fans on the terraces and or the board for that matter as Mr Pardew played the price.
So, no I do not agree that Plymouth at home is a 'dodgey game'... if we do not win then there is a serious problem.
You may or may not remember we played them in the league twice a few years ago... a 1-1 at there gaff and a 5-0 at ours... (I was at both games)... so if we can hammer with a team built for the championship we should be hammering them with our current team

To add to your point... 'Do I remember Chesterfield'... because we lost to a lower league team last year it doesn't make it the same this season or in fact par for the course... we won a Man U and Arsenal last year.. does that mean we should expect the same based on your theories of last season... I certaintly don't expect us to get anything in them to games (I certaintly hope we do)... but guys we must remember who we are... we are a good mid table prem team so should be beating lower teams at all times but have to be happy with our place in the league... you can't just buy a few players and start challenging for trophies... we all hope and pray that we can.. but we have to be realistic... but that also includes being strong about beating shit teams... (actual shit teams not ones we dislike)
see you all in a couple of weeks

Solano on free and Camara on loan....and err that's it?
The transfer window has just ended and it looks like we've only signed Nobby Solano on a free and Henri Camara on loan from Wigan. Neither in time for the Reading game.
Strap yerselves in folks, this is gonna be a very tough season methinks?

Typical West Ham, Linked with Bent, Gudjohnsen, Adriano, McCarthy and others, and end up with Kamara on loan.
I cant go through another season like last year

Typical West Ham? Just reflect for a second on what happened in the transfer window...we have brought in parker, faubert, ljungberg, dyer, wright, solano, camara on loan.
He have also busted a bollock trying to sign a host of others...discarding rumours we have made offers or at least an official enquiry into Barnes, Shorey, Gudjohnsen, Adriano and probably a few others but missed out on them all.
What more exactly did you want? Sure we wanted a left back but we tried right up to the window closing. Another striker would have been nice but he has brought in Camara on loan for cover until we can sort something better out in January or next off-season.
We've got more midfielders/wingers than you can poke a stick at but we've been stung by injuries...
Don't forget we also love to hate Chelsea with a passion because they used RA's billions to bring in a host of world class players.

when ljungbery, faubert and parker are fit our mid field is going to be the tits...just grind till the lads get settled in
im happy with our buys...a lot of experience and tallent, and purchases which are showing a bit of cunt...not rolling over
btw whats the go with C.Cole....is he still on the books? cuz i thought he had tallent
the 2 best things were fucking off NRC and not buying Bent for 18mil....were going to be a force when we get set

he played up front the other day at Bristol..he's pretty average though he hasn't had much opportunity to disprove it.

Stop whinging!!!!! we are lucky to be in the prem, after last year all there was on this blog was doome and gloom!!! none of you commenting on this blog said we had any chance of staying up!!! so quit fucking mooning and get behind our team FFS. Talking about shitty signings how about some time ago when we signed the likes of Mike (how slow, shit and old Newel)!Playing upfront with Dowie! We now have a decent squad with signings we would have dreamed of in years gone by. Lets get behind the team and manager and stop fucking going on about how unfair it is to be a west ham fan!!!!!!!

Still short a left back then...
Smart move with Solano, I would have been happy seeing CC leave the club, can't see him scoring many goals for us this year in nay comp

fair enough..but he has brought in Bellamy (who I left off my list) and he could well be the signing of the season come next May and we tally up his goals.
At the end of the day what can you do if players won't come or want too much $$$. Pay 18m for Darren Bent? Pay EG 100k?
No thanks.
We need to consolidate this season, get he new signings fit & on the park, and take stock in Jan & next off season of what we need to do to take the next step.

Can't beleive the complaining. If all our new signings were fit then we'd have a pretty good team - as it is I think we have a good team although we're a bit light for cover with all the injuries. 7 points now out of a possible 12 - this year will be nothing like last.
And for those complaining about strikers - Bellamy adds a dynamic we have not seen for many years and when Ashton is fit we'll be awesome up front.

Solano The Only One
Newcastle agreed to transfer Solano to us with 15 mins to spare before the midnight deadline. He comes on a free..if he's out of contract why was the deal so problematic?
All the other deals fell through including Shorey, Barnes & Adri-fucking-ano. I've seen it rsaid that Shorey went to Fulham in a player exchange but I can't find confirmation and can't be assed looking.
I can't find any jaw dropping transfer elsewhere. Glen Johnson went to Pompey along with Diop. Derby signed one of Celtic's strikers Kenny Miller (might be a cheap fantasy football player as he'll get 1st team football every week presumably).
