20M to Spend!
Ok here is our light at the end of the tunnel. Egghead is apparently going to give Curbs 20 Million pounds to spend in the January window instread of the original 15M promised after our embarrasing defeat at the hands of Reading yesterday. Maybe a 6-0 reverse has a silver (or in this case gold) lining.

West Ham "played like a bunch of drunks" at Reading and will be all but relegated if they lose to Fulham, according to midfielder Yossi Benayoun.
The Hammers' miserable season reached a new low on Monday when they were thrashed 6-0 at the Madejski Stadium, leaving them four points adrift of Premiership safety.
"I am ashamed. I am shocked at the way we played. We played like a bunch of drunks," Benayoun said in The Sun.
"If we keep on playing like this, we will definitely be relegated."
"The situation is very bad. I felt like crying."
The Hammers' have been forced to wait almost a fortnight for their next league outing when they host Fulham in a London derby.
It is a match 26-year-old Benayoun believes the club cannot afford to lose.
"If we lose against Fulham, we will be digging a grave for ourselves," he added.
"It's become the most important game of the season."
"Hopefully, everyone will wake up now and give more than 100% of their ability."

West Ham's plight has failed to improve since Alan Pardew was replaced as manager by Alan Curbishley last month and Benayoun fears this latest debacle may see his new boss renege on a promise not to offload any players during the January transfer window.

Put all his chips down on Pards getting the boot during the Kia takeover debacle; culminating in a face off with Pardew in the canteen at Chadwell Heath. If the story is true, Yossi was threatening one of the catering staff with the sack if some Jewish recipes weren't forthcoming soon. Pards intervened, saying the menu was ultimately his responsiblility and threatening memebers of staff was not in Yossi's job description. Yossi allegedly replied "f*ck You, you aren't even going to be here in 2 weeks time so why should I listen to you" or words to that effect. Yossi was later somewhat gobsmacked to find that the Israeli backed Kia bid came to nothing and Pards was still in place. This also happened around the time of the "too injured to play for us but more than willing to run his arse off for Israel pumped full of Cortisone" incident, which further dimmed his stock in the eyes of Pardew. One can only summise that if this stuff actually happened Yossi has been whinging to anyone who will listen to him, and has found himself mostly sitting on the bench ever since. Someone on this forum also had a run in with Yossi at a match recently, where the mercurial midfield genius told his Dad to Foxtrot Oscar somewhere in the bowels of one of the UP Grandstands...
The sooner he goes the better, and I believe that Eggie will have a great deal to say about who stays and who goes. A great deal of staffers and senior management are sick of the 'bling bling gangsta rap primadonnas' that have infested WHU.
I say get some new blood in and play some of the youngsters with something to prove to a club they love!!

Javier Mascherano admits he's desperate to quit Upton Park and end his West Ham nightmare.
The Argentine World Cup star moved to the Premiership along with Carlos Tevez in a shock move on transfer deadline day back in August.
But since that grand entrance neither have had much opportunity to showcase their talents.
Midfielder Mascherano (22) has played just 235 minutes in the Premiership, starting only three games and appearing as a substitute in two others.
And now he's eager to get his faltering career back on track elsewhere.
He told Argentine newspaper Equipo: "I must leave. I can't spend any more time without playing.
"It's to be expected that if I'm not playing for West Ham I will have to continue my career with another club. I came to England to succeed but so far I've not had the opportunities to do so."

RE: Tranfers. Lots of names mentioned on here and on other web pages, so many it's hard to keep track.
None of the strikers do much for me, I mean Viduka and Beattie aren't exactly prolific scorers and Hartson, well he'd probably kick Yossi in the head the first chance he gets!
If the current bunch, up front, got more opportunities I suspect they'd put more away. Still think that Tevez has heaps to offer if played as an out and out striker.
Heard of most of the midfielders mentioned eg quashie, jensen and SWP, but excluding the latter, I don't know enough about them to comment. SWP has speed but can't cross very well so I'm not convinced (puts tin hat on). He is high profile so others may follow if it happens.
There was talk of Milne from the bar codes and Ambrose from Charlton, in the off season, but I haven't seen these guys mentioned again?
I'm with Dave, Lucas Neill wouldn't be interested and who can blame him. Again, don't know much about the Gradner geeza from the yids or volz from Fulham but I do think we need more quality at the back. We leak goals, not just this season but we did last year as well. What about that Young bloke from Charlton?
Attracting players to our beloved club will be hard, but we desperately need a change and fast. Hopefully Curbs can sprinkle some gold dust and inspire the players to want to fight tooth and nail to stay up.
Lots of sleepless nights ahead of us lads.

hammerskid, I am heavily involved in A-League stuff and I've never heard of him either. Nor is he mentioned in any club player listing that I've got (including players who are not played). He may be a lower level player but at any rate it doesn't sound like much to be excited about.
Good summary Beggers. I'm not fussed on SWP especially for the kind of money that's being bandied about. I'm happy to break the transfer record for Ashton but breaking it AGAIN for SWP is just too risky.

Luís Boa Morte is close to moving from Fulham to West Ham United after they agreed a fee of £5 million and the winger had a medical last night. West Ham, the struggling Barclays Premiership club, were also in talks to buy Matthew Upson and to sell Bobby Zamora.
Boa Morte, the Fulham captain, has agreed a three-year contract at Upton Park despite signing a five-year deal at Craven Cottage in September 2005. Fulham wanted to sign Matthew Etherington as part of the deal but West Ham want to keep the winger.

Not with you on Ethers Dave. What's the point of having him on the paddock if he can't defend and can't create anything? He gets carried by others too often IMO. I did say he was great when he's on but that's not often enough for me. Maybe you could swap over from RM to LM, you couldn't do any worse that he has lately.

In the case above dave, lets hope ethers picks up and gets some roids into him to to beef him up a bit.
I do think at the end of the day, we got Boa and that what matters, to keep ethers is a bonus.

Not surprised with Etherington leaving.Someone posted on ITBS before Xmas that the club had had enough of his wagering problem.WHU have reportedly cleared his debts in the past.This season he seemed to be playing like someone who was more interested in the 3 30 at Cheltenham than football

Totally agree with Dave on the Boa Morte/Etherington rumour. I really hope this is not true, while Ethers has not been consistent he is often one of our best players and he has toughened up since we joined the Premiership.
