First signing - Boa Morte
29 year old winger Luis Boa Morte has become Curbishley's first signing for West Ham, from Fulham for an undisclosed fee (but probably around the 5 million mark). Fulham wanted to keep him but the player wanted to leave, so there you have it. A positive sign for us!
It's a lot of money, but a very good signing, and one we really needed. He should hit the ground running and lift the team. As a "bonus" we keep Etherington as Dave said we would, and I'm very pleased about this.

Apparently there is no limit to the money Curbs has. Also proceeds from sales should bump up the cash.

If this start is anything to go by then Curbs is showing a good head for the transfer market.

Dont worry beex i too am a little bit scared but i hope we can come through alright.
As for Lucas Niell, I reckon it would be great for him to join but i think hes definetly on his way to liverpool.

As stated previously, real good player IMO. Great QUALITY signing. Wouldn't be surprised to see Fulham slide into the relegation zone. I think this will be a big loss for them.
As whubris said it's quite a positive sign for us.
Also nervous about Brighton tomorrow but I'm hoping this signing and talk of SWP etc will breathe some life into the lads. As WH5096, "we might just give them a kick'n" Now wouldn't that be nice!

Talking to whufc.com after his capture was confirmed this morning, the former Fulham captain said:
"I'm delighted to have signed for West Ham United. Alan Curbishley has given me the opportunity to join what I consider to be one of the biggest clubs in the country, and I am really happy to be here.
"Upton Park is a very special place and the support is unbelievable. I am the type of player who will fight for the shirt, and I promise I will do that at West Ham.

Yes we have been through the ringer, its time we got some good times back again.
But then again that's the hammer way isn't it, up...down...up...down (speaking of which).
Nay but seriously, I think my heart and mental state require some greater consistency.
Hopefully eggie and curbs can bring this to the club.

Hopefully Ethers will pull his finger out. Still think he's a light weight but I truly hope he prooves me wrong mate I really do. I would welcome the taunts if it meant he played, consistently, as well as we all know he can.

'97 to Arsenal for £1.75m, no goals in 25 appearances tho he did score once in Europe.
'99 to Southampton for £500k, 1 goal in 17 appearances
'00 to Fulham for £1.7m where he scored 18 times in 39 appearances in the Championship. After promotion he scored 3 times in 2 years, then averaged 8 goals a season.
So we have to pay 3 times what Fulham paid for him??? And he's nudging 30.
